After three and a half weeks without any beer in the dry state of Gujarat, it was time to head for Diu, a small island (about the size of Fetlar) just off the coast of Gujarat where alcohol is perfectly legal. It seems that nobody has birded here before (no mention in any trip reports), so this was pretty much uncharted territory, bird wise. Diu is being billed as the new Goa and has a similar feel to how Goa was, when I first visited there, in 1988, as for the birding, we mainly stuck to just 3 areas - Diu Reserve Forest, Fudam Wetland Sanctuary and Diu town (around the Fort area and a hotel lake). We visited at least one of these places most mornings and occasionally in the afternoon.
At last a pint !!
