Still a tad breezy

The wind has dropped a little bit, it's only gusting 45mph now! Checked everywhere around the patch today - all the gardens, fields, every stone wall, all the cliffs, all the beaches, every nettle and thistle patch, the docks and everywhere around Old Scatness. Good totals for the day - 1 Bean Goose, 1 Brent Goose, 55 Barnacle Geese, 5 Whooper Swan, 1 Pintail, 70 Wigeon, 2 Short-eared Owl, 1 Wood Pigeon, 3 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 21 Song Thrush, 110 Redwing, 80 Fieldfare, 1 Reed Bunting (on the cliffs this time), 4 Siskin, 1 Common Redpoll, 2 Brambling, 1 Swallow, 3 Goldcrest, 13 Robin, 3 Woodcock, 2 Wheatear and the Pied Wheatear (now showing stupidly well in Stinky Geo).

Gooses

A bit of a Goose fest in front of the house today, the Taiga Bean Goose was present with the Greylags from first light, then 2 Barnacles joined the flock mid morning. Just need to get any of the White-fronts, Brents or Pinkies to join the flock now.

Attack of the Killer B's

2 Bean Geese on the patch this morning and the Black Redstart is still about and as flighty as ever.

Beanies

Having missed some Bean Geese on the patch earlier in the day, headed over the runway to Exnaboe to check the Greylag flock there. First flock - 3 Bean Geese - job done ! Back at home, tried to get them on the house list with the 'scope, but all I could see was a flock of geese. I needn't have bothered, as at about 4pm a flock of Greylags landed in front of the house and among them - 3 Bean Geese - it was the same flock.
