9th February 2010 Mandvi.

After getting directions from C.E.D.O. yesterday, we headed down to Mandvi for Crab Plover, it's a hell of a long walk down the beach, but ultimately worth it. Finally getting to the sand spit there were 84 Crab Plovers roosting and giving good views down to about 40 feet. Also along the beach were - 5 Slender-billed Gulls, a Caspian Tern, 40+ probable Saunders Tern, 200+ Kentish Plover, 100 Greater Flamingo, 70 Oystercatcher, a Grey Plover, 4 Greater Thick-Knee, 2 Osprey, 20 Painted Storks and 6 Western Reef Herons.
Around Mandvi Lake there were 40 Spot-billed Ducks, 80 White Pelican, 45 Dalmatian Pelican and 2 Oriental Honey Buzzard.
On the way back to Bhuj, stopped at a lake at Dahinsara, where there was 4 Comb Duck, 70+ Spot-billed Ducks, 100+ Black Ibis, 5 Glossy Ibis and a Bluethroat.

13th February 2010 Valsura and Lakhota Tank.

We visited a place called Valsura, an area of salt pans just north of Jamnagar in the afternoon. The usual stuff was on the salt pans including - 50 Painted Storks, 150+ Black-headed Ibis and 200+ Greater and 50+ Lesser Flamingo. Also a fly over Pallid Harrier and 1000+ Slender-billed Gulls heading for a nearby roost, on the main road through the pans there were 12 Sand Larks.
The evening was spent at Lakhota Tank in Jamnagar, where there were - 350+ Spot-billed Ducks, a Mallard (the only one of the trip), 400+ Ruff, 20 Whiskered Terns, 2 Pallas's Gulls and a Common Buzzard.

February 14th 2008. India.






A full day out - morning at Maem Lake and Chorao Island, afternoon at Morjim Beach and evening at the Biera Mar.

1 Grey Nightjar, 1 Indian Nightjar, 1 Emerald Dove, 2 Crested Tree Swift, 1 Pied Kingfisher, 2 Red Spurfowl, 1 Yellow-crowned Woodpecker, 1 Tickel's Blue Flycatcher and 1 Shikra at Maem Lake.

2 Lesser Spotted Eagle and a Black-shouldered Kite at Chorao Island.

4 Turnstone, 8 Slender-billed Gulls, 70+ Pallas's Gulls, 120+ Greater Sandplover, 200+ Lesser Sandplover, 20 Kentish Plover and 30 Lesser Crested Tern at Morjim Beach.

2 Painted Snipe, 2 Clamorous Reed Warbler, 4 Night Heron and an Oriental Honey Buzzard at the Biera Mar.
