September 20th 2008. Kingfisher and Paddyfield.

Spent most of the morning at Cunningsburgh, looking for a Kingfisher (about the 18th record for Shetland). After about 3 hours of searching and standing around, the bird finally showed with a brief fly-past. Also in Cunningsburgh - 3 Whinchat, 1 Reed Warbler and a Peregrine.

Went to Virkie late afternoon, where a Paddyfield Warbler was giving 'jigsaw' views in an overgrown burn.

1 Pied Flycatcher, 2 Siskin , 1 Kestrel, 1 Blackcap and a Whinchat in the Garden.

Winds now in the West - but plenty of birds still here.

7 Whinchat, 4 Song Thrush, 1 Tree Pipit, 2 Garden Warbler, 1 Willow Warbler, 2 Kestrel, 2 Robin, 1 Redstart, 1 Whitethroat, 20 Twite, 4 Lapwing, 90+ Dunlin and 2 Grey Plovers at Scatness.

Arctic Warbler at Exnaboe (bird has been present since Sunday, but has been more elusive than W.M.D.) Also at Exnaboe - 1 Kestrel, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and a Spotted Flycatcher.

8 Bar-tailed Godwits, 15 Black-tailed Godwits and a Kestrel at Pool of Virkie.

Half hour spent around Toab in the morning before catching flight to Foula.
Nearly the full day spent wandering around Foula - for very little reward.
