Spent all day around Nainital - 2 Green-backed Tit, 1 Maroon-backed Accentor, 4 White-capped Water Redstart, 2 Hume's Warbler, 6 Blue Whistling Thrush, 2 Rufous Sibia, 1 Grey-hooded Warbler, 2 Himalayan Bulbul, 2 Streaked Laughingthrush, 6 Himalayan Griffon, 8 Black-throated Tit, 1 Yellow-crowned Woodpecker, 1 Blue-capped Redstart, 1 Bar-tailed Treecreeper, 4 Oriental Turtle Dove, 2 Streaked Rosefinch, 1 Blue-fronted Redstart, 2 Red-flanked Bluetail, 1 Rufous-vented Tit, 2 Golden Eagle, 1 Peregrine, 6 Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush, 2 Black-headed Jay, 4 Jay, 21 Pintail, 1 Bonelli's Eagle and 125+ Steppe Eagle (feeding on a rubbish dump).

All day travelling - flight to Delhi, then 10 hour taxi ride to Nainital.

February 18th 2008. India.

A bit of an easy day - morning at Arpora, afternoon around the Biera Mar, evening at Diva Island.

3 Black-winged Stilt, 1 Marsh Sandpiper, 7 Little Stints and a Small Pratincole at Arpora.

1 Booted Eagle and a Laggar Falcon at the Biera Mar.

1 Osprey, 1 Peregrine, 2 male Pallid Harrier, 4 Yellow-wattled Lapwing, 1 Great Spotted Eagle, 1 Lesser Spotted Eagle, 1 Black-shouldered Kite, 72 Glossy Ibis, 1 Indian Darter and 2 Black-necked Ibis at Diva Island.

February 17th 2008. India.

All day at Vagurem - a site not normally visited by birders.

Pretty good birding - 1 Chestnut-headed Bee-eater, 2 Asian Paradise Flycatcher, 4 Small Minivet, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Large Cuckooshrike, 2 Racket-tailed Drongo, 2 Pompadour Green Pigeon, 1 Brown Fish Owl, 1 Emerald Dove, 2 Chestnut-shouldered Petronia, 2 Golden-fronted Leafbird, 1 Blue-winged Leafbird, 1 Oriental Honey Buzzard, 2 Shikra, 18 Yellow Wagtails, 4 Common Iora, 2 Malabar Grey Hornbill, 1 Lrage Woodshrike and 2 Grey Junglefowl.

February 16th 2008. India.

All morning spent around Baga, late afternoon around Saligao.

25 Black-headed Buntings, 6 Plain Prinia, 1 Tawny Pipit, 1 Hoopoe, 1 Bluethroat, 1 Black-shouldered Kite, 3 Fan-tailed Warbler, 2 Pied Bushchat, 1 Indian Roller, 1 Osprey, 1 Brown Shrike, 1 Ruddy-breasted Crake and 2 Night Heron on Baga Marsh.

1 'Steppe' Buzzard, 4 Asian Paradise Flycatcher, 2 Black-naped Monarch, 2 Shikra and a Lesser Spotted Eagle around Saligao.

February 15th 2008. India.

Another full day out - all day around Bondla, evening at the Biera Mar.

Lots of birds at Bondla - 1 Rufous Woodpecker, 2 Malabar Whistling Thrush, 4 Racket-tailed Drongo, 2 Malabar Grey Hornbill, 2 Grey Junglefowl, 2 Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, 2 Western-crowned Warbler, 1 Brown Flycatcher, 3 Malabar Trogon, 3 Blacked-naped Monarch, 3 Tickell's Blue Flycatcher, 2 Asian Paradise Flycatcher, 1 Blue-capped Rock Thrush and a Tickell's Thrush (so they do exist in Goa !)

1 Black-shouldered Kite, 300+ Rose-coloured Starling, 2 Indian Silverbill, 7 Scaly-breasted Munia, 11 Chestnut-tailed Starling, 2 Blyth's Pipit, 1 Tree Pipit, 1 White-browed Wagtail and a Barn Owl at the Biera Mar.

February 14th 2008. India.

A full day out - morning at Maem Lake and Chorao Island, afternoon at Morjim Beach and evening at the Biera Mar.

1 Grey Nightjar, 1 Indian Nightjar, 1 Emerald Dove, 2 Crested Tree Swift, 1 Pied Kingfisher, 2 Red Spurfowl, 1 Yellow-crowned Woodpecker, 1 Tickel's Blue Flycatcher and 1 Shikra at Maem Lake.

2 Lesser Spotted Eagle and a Black-shouldered Kite at Chorao Island.

4 Turnstone, 8 Slender-billed Gulls, 70+ Pallas's Gulls, 120+ Greater Sandplover, 200+ Lesser Sandplover, 20 Kentish Plover and 30 Lesser Crested Tern at Morjim Beach.

2 Painted Snipe, 2 Clamorous Reed Warbler, 4 Night Heron and an Oriental Honey Buzzard at the Biera Mar.

February 13th 2008. India.

Spent the morning birding around Batim Lake and Santa Cruz salt pans, then the evening at the Biera Mar, Baga.

1 White-bellied Sea Eagle, 2 Spot-billed Duck, 1 Comb Duck, 4 Shoveler, 100+ Garganey and 400+ Lesser Whistling Ducks at Batim.

30 Small Pratincole and a Bluethroat at Santa Cruz.

1 Oriental Honey Buzzard, 2 Shikra, 2 Woolly-necked Stork, 1 Clamorous Reed Warbler, 1 Brown Shrike, 4 Night Heron and a Cinnamon Bittern at the Beira Mar.

February 12th 2008. India.

Arrived in Goa at 7am, then just spent most of the day around Baga and the evening at Diva Island.

Spotted Owlet, Rufous Woodpecker, 6 Night Herons and 14 Brahimy Starling around Baga.

Black-shouldered Kite, male Pallid Harrier and 3 Lesser Adjutants at Diva Island.

January 23rd 2008.Pacific Diver.

Got over to Llys-y-ffan resr - saw the Pacific Diver in the pouring rain, also Great Grey Shrike there.

January 22nd 2008. White-crowned Sparrow.

Got down to Cley in Norfolk - managed to get the White-crowned Sparrow. Also 2 Black Brants at Holkham with lots of Brent and Pink-footed Geese.
