Two more year-ticks today - Siskin and Chiffchaff (both in the garden), elsewhere around the patch - 3 Robins, a Goldcrest, 2 Pintail and several Great Northern Divers (10+).
20 days since the last year-tick (Chaffinch) and a most welcome Goldcrest turns up in the garden. Some more signs of Spring on the patch - Skylarks singing, 3 pairs of Ringed Plovers on territory and about 40 Meadow Pipits heading north. Elsewhere the Robin remains in the garden (present from January), 4 Pintail and a Grey Heron on Loch of Gards and the 8 Barnacle Geese in with the Greylags. And finally, this evening's sunset ended in a green flash.
Just two year-ticks so far in March - Skylark and Chaffinch - and that's with checking the patch out every day so far this month ! Other highlights - up to 5 Shelduck on most days, Peregrine on the 6th, 5 Pintails on the 15th, a Robin from the 9th and 9 Barnacle Geese on the 18th.
The Patchwork Challenge league standings for Jan 31st, I didn't quite make the top 10 and will probably only drop lower until Spring finally arrives up here some time in April.
