Black Tail.

Still sod all about, an attempt at a sea-watch yesterday produced lots of sea ! and a group of 3 very distant Skuas that may or may not have been Poms. A walk around the patch this evening, in the rain and a strong north-westerly wind - the reward - 8 Black-tailed Godwits was as good as it got !

Now this, Steve, is what I call a blog! Excellent stuff!!! Mully mentions you often btw and still calls the little black hide by the river the Steve Minton hide :) Dunno what your year list were like then 'back in the day' but have managed 130 past couple of years, tho struggling a bit so far in 2010. Did get a Great Grey Shrike (Upper Moss Side)and a Cetti's that stayed for a few weeks (Eastern Reedbed)tho in 2008 - which was nice ;)

Hi Mark, looking back through my notes I think my best year-list for the Moore area was 157 in either 2000 or 2001 (maybe), this was a time when there were plenty of new pools on the tip workings, so stuff like Greenshank and Black Wits were fairly easy (there were also 5 Green Sands wintering)and I still had access to the tip, best bird was an Osprey at halfway house.

157?! Blood Hell, not getting anywhere near that these days, even totting up everything peeps report. Mike reckons a 140 is still doable, but that means getting everything passing through. I have an annual 'target' of 125. I get that, I'm happy. Could sure use some wader scrapes and pools again! Mind you, the way ther water levels are dropping atm, Birchwood Pool and Pumphouse could end up just that - scrapes!
